I will make this short and sweet. Keep away from Dublin and Galway if at all possible - Cork, especially on the suburbs is a good option. Kilkenny is cheaper but not much happening(which is maybe what you want). Of course, there in lies the big catch 22 - Dublin, Cork and Belfast hold about 80% of the jobs. If its making money your after, then Cork might be best. It is also 10 minutes from various places of beauty and West Cork/ Kerry is hard to beat for activities and scenery. Whichever place you choose, remember it is always better to live in the city center or close to it. Petrol will eat away at any money you save living from the city.
